Service Description

Alignment yoga is practiced through a variety of poses in an effort to tone our muscles and calm our mind. Our alignment yoga is a set routine that focuses on the precision of postures, muscle training and maximizing the health benefits of yoga and minimizing the risk of injury. Precise instruction and demonstration are two of the key elements of our alignment classes. The practice is a strong one, so expect to sweat! Suitable for all levels. Props such as blocks and straps are also one of the tools used to help us do the poses. Yin yoga is a deep practice that holds poses for 3-5 minutes targeting the connective tissue. In this class we will use multiple props (pillows, blocks, and/or blankets) to set the body up comfortably for deep stretches and longer hold times within yin poses. This cooling practice is the perfect compliment to our regular alignment classes. Yin yoga helps us to be present and find acceptance for what is, letting the layers of stagnant energy we've been holding within the body to release. Use yin yoga to unlock your muscles: if you stand on your feet for a long time, if you have a physically laboring job, or if you sit slumped over your computer with your neck tilted for hours each day, the body parts start to be pulled down by gravity. With time and repetition, the area at work gets hard and tense. The muscle “locks” in its current position and if this goes on for long enough, bad posture, tightness or an uneven muscular pattern is created. In order to release areas of tension, we need an “unpinning” to happen. Yin yoga is practiced in a slow and controlled manner so that this unpinning can happen safely, without the risk of unintentional tearing.
